Sloan’s Act-O-Matic® line is a commercial-grade collection of showerheads designed to meet the durability, safety, and vandal-resistance requirements that are essential in facilities where reliability can’t be compromised. These showerheads are engineered to minimize maintenance while extending service life, even under heavy daily use. The self-cleaning technology, all-brass construction, and consistent spray pattern make the Act-O-Matic® an ideal choice for schools and universities, correctional facilities, gyms and athletic centers, hotels and lodging facilities, and industrial and commercial buildings.
Key Features
Self-Cleaning Spray Disk Technology
A defining feature of the Act-O-Matic® design is its spring-loaded spray disk, which helps reduce mineral buildup and clogging. This creates a consistent spray performance. It also reduces maintenance frequency, and improves reliability of the units, especially in hard water environments.
Note: Although the Act-O-Matic® is designed to perform for an extended time without maintenance, limescale or calcium deposits can develop over a long period of usage, and will need to be removed. In those situations, the spray disk can be disassembled and cleaned manually. You will need to use a spanner wrench or pliers to disassemble the spray disc assembly, and then clean sediment and debris from all components (breakdown shown right.) When needed, replace the assembly with Sloan SH-1009-A Repair Kit (Part #84249).
Durable All-Brass Construction
Built for institutional use, the showerhead components are constructed from heavy-duty brass with corrosion-resistant finishes designed to withstand constant operation.
Consistent Spray Pattern
The Act-O-Matic® is designed to deliver a consistent “cone-within-a-cone” spray pattern that remains stable even under variable water pressure conditions. Water shoots from the spray head in two distinct, concentric circles simultaneously, enabling total body coverage.

Configurations and Styles
There are two styles of Act-O-Matic Showerheads, with each available in a variety of different gallon rates and installations:
Institutional Act-O-Matic Showerheads
(Sloan Models AC-450, AC-460)
The institutional style (shown above, left) is an ideal model for facilities where user safety, vandal resistance, and limited user control* is required. The institutional style unit is available in wall mounted and behind-the-wall installations.
*Unlike the standard unit, the institutional model prevents users from adjusting water volume or spray direction, as it does not feature exposed thumb indents or an adjustable ball joint.
Standard Act-O-Matic Showerheads
(Sloan Models AC-11, AC-51)
The standard style (above, right) is available with or without a thumb screw volume control and universal ball joint, giving the user more control over the unit when included. Both institutional and standard style units are available in 2.0 and 2.5 GPM flow rates.
Purchasing Sloan Showerhead Units and Repair Parts

Act-O-Matic showerheads are repairable, with internal repair parts available for purchase individually. However, the most popular repair part for these units is the Shower Head Rebuild Kit mentioned in the Self-Cleaning Spray Disc section above, which converts older units to flow control models.
For other repair parts, such as other flow control repair kits, O-rings, needle spray replacements, ball joints, coupling rings, shower body assemblies, gaskets, and coupling rings, give us a call to place your order over the phone.
