Sloan has developed special finishes to modernize commercial restroom updates. Their new finishes include a variety of sleek options that add the perfect finishing touch to an updated commercial restroom. The newest special finish is graphite. Also worth mentioning are Sloan’s other special finishes which include the following: brushed nickel, brushed stainless and polished brass, and of course Sloan, is still offering its standard finish, which is the timeless classic of polished chrome.
For a wide variety of fixtures, there is no minimum order quantity on Sloan’s special finishes. This means that any facility can update their restrooms with them - no matter if it’s for a single-use restroom, or for multiple high-traffic restrooms with two dozen stalls. At the end of this article, we share a list of the Sloan units that can now be ordered with no minimum order quantity. The list includes the following fixture types: faucets, flushometers, soap dispensers, and sinks for the various finish options. They all include the PVD* (see description below) finish process that makes them applicable to commercial facility installations.
*PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. It is a special finish process Sloan does to enhance the resistance of it’s fixtures to chemicals and abrasion. It means that the finish for Sloan’s fixtures is bonded at the molecular level. This process is very important especially for curved and angle products (like faucets and flush valves) that can be difficult to coat. PVD enhances how durable a fixture and its finish are, making them more durable than other processes like powder coating or immersion processes. After the PVD process, these units are even more resistant to chemicals and abrasion that Sloan’s standard polished chrome finished fixtures.
Graphite Finish for Commercial Fixtures
Sloan’s new PVD Graphite Finish is the finish option to choose for architects and designers who want to make a statement with the fixtures throughout their facility’s restrooms. Unlike other finish options, graphite finished fixtures create an entirely different feel to a restroom, instantly making it feel more distinctive and modern.
Did You Know? Sloan is currently the only manufacturer that offers a PVD graphite finish on its fixtures. So if you see graphite fixtures in a commercial restroom, it’s pretty safe to assume it’s made by Sloan.
Fun Fact: Sloan had intended to create a matte black finish option at first, but after a ‘production accident’ that created a graphite-colored finish instead, they sent samples to their account managers. Their account managers received feedback from premier architects and engineers across the country who found the graphite to be a better option. So, Sloan went with graphite instead!
Brushed Nickel, Brushed Stainless, Polished Brass, and Polished Chrome Finish Options
Sloan also offers brushed nickel, brushed stainless, polished brass, and the standard, polished chrome finish options as well.
Brushed Nickel is a strong finish to choose for restrooms that engineers and designers wish to add a level of comfort to. One fabulous feature of brushed finishes is that unlike polished finishes, brushed nickel (and brushed stainless finishes, for that matter), do not show watermarks or fingerprints. This makes brushed fixtures appear cleaner, longer. This feature also makes brushed finishes a strong choice for very high traffic restrooms.
Brushed Stainless is similar to classic polished chrome in that it’s a classic finish option. It’s different, but not that different, at the same time. Like brushed nickel, it also does not show watermarks or fingerprints, enabling the restroom to appear cleaner and fresher, longer.
Polished Brass is a unique finish option since it is brass in color, transforming any restroom to a more high-end experience, due to the rich gold color and luxurious feel it creates. It pairs very well with marble and other modern, high-end design elements.
Polished Chrome is the standard but still well-loved and familiar finish option on Sloan fixtures. It has a bright finish and creates a sleek, clean appearance. It is the most practical and least expensive finish option provided by Sloan.
