Sloan Solenoid Guide for BASYS Faucets Article

Faucet solenoids are one of the most commonly replaced faucet parts. Their role within a faucet is critical. In this article, find out what solenoids do, then learn exactly which solenoid is needed for your Sloan BASYS faucet model by using the chart in this article.

Solenoids: What do they do within a faucet?

Faucet solenoids control the flow of water from the inlet to the faucet spout. They convert electronic energy into mechanical energy, enabling electronic faucets to function mechanically through their sensor or manual activation. Solenoid valves are most often made of stainless steel, Teflon, and brass materials.

For Sloan BASYS faucets, use the Solenoid Replacement Chart below to find the correct solenoid to service your Sloan BASYS faucet. The chart lists several factors that will help you figure out which solenoid is needed for your BASYS faucet. Faucet solenoids control the flow of water from the inlet to the faucet spout. Faucet Height

An easy visual which helps narrow down which solenoid you need for your model BASYS faucet is the faucet’s height. BASYS faucets come in Low, Mid, High and wall mounting heights.

Faucet Model

The model of your faucet will also help you determine which solenoid it uses. Simply find the model number on your faucet, and look for it in the chart below.

Solenoid Options

There are two solenoid models for each Low, Mid, and High BASYS faucet styles. They are color coded according to which gallon per minute (GPM) flow rate they are designed for. Green solenoids are for 0.5 GPM and blue solenoids are for 1.5 GPM. For wall mounted BASYS faucets, the only option is the EXF1012A Solenoid, which has a flow rate of 1.5 GPM.

*Note: The flow rate of the solenoid must match the flow rate of the BASYS faucet aerator to function properly. So, for example, if you want your Low BASYS faucet model EFX300 to have a low flow rate of 0.5 GPM, then you need to install a 0.5 GPM aerator and the 0.5 GPM solenoid, which is Sloan model EFX37A or our part number 84103.

If you are unsure of the aerator flow rate in your faucet, and do not have an old solenoid to reference for color, than you may need to replace both the solenoid and the aerator to ensure that you install parts with matching flow rates.
